Everything is shifting to a direct sales model
Last week I went to our local mall. With a toddler in tow, needless to say I don’t get out much so it had been quite a while since I had ventured to the mall. I was shocked to see over 50% of the stores were CLOSED!!! Lights off, glass windows covered up with long sheets of paper, no one in sight. Where are all the brick and mortar stores going??? OUT OF BUSINESS!
In case you have been living under a rock for the last few years, online shopping has taken over the business world. Why you ask…convenience, better prices, and personalized service. Hello AMAZON! As Amazon does offer convenience and better prices, what it does lack is personalized service. Enter in DIRECT SALES!
Consumers want to know who they are supporting when they make a purchase. I’m don’t know about you, but I am tired of supporting the big CEO’s, while the little gal working her tail off at the register is making minimum wage. Think about it, do you know who you are supporting when you purchase from these big chain stores like WalMart, Target, or Ulta?
With Direct Sales, you know exactly who you are supporting with your purchase. More than likely, you know the direct seller personally. Direct Sellers, if doing it well, have built a relationship with every customer. You may know their name, their kids’ names and even their pets names. Building that relationship, is one of the most important things in direct selling and also what sets it apart.
Low Risk, High Reward
Unlike the typical brick and mortar store, online businesses have much less overhead. Direct Sales, even less. Most direct sales entry kits average $200 or less.
Direct sales can be very lucrative, depending on how much time and effort you put in.
Most direct selling organizations provide their sales force with marketing and promotional materials, POS apps and/or software and replicated websites for their customers.
Direct sales allows you to have control over your schedule. You can schedule your business around your life, not the other way around. Direct sales have long attracted stay-at-home moms who want the flexibility to contribute financially while spending quality time with their families.
What Holds People Back?
Bad experiences with direct sales companies
Almost everyone has had an experience with someone in direct sales. Whether you were the seller or the consumer. Direct sales has come a long way from the days of Tupperware parties, Avon and Mary Kay ladies.
Direct Sales, Social Selling, Network Marketing, Community Based Selling, whatever you want to call it, is changing for the better!
No one in direct sales wakes up every morning saying “I want to be ‘salesy’. I want to spam my network today, I want to push my products down my network’s throat.”
Today’s direct sales is not about spamming people, it’s about building authentic relationships, offering solutions to problems, empowering women to build their confidence and build a lucrative business.
People feel like there is a magic formula to be successful that will not be authentic to them
That is the beauty of direct sales. You can do it YOUR WAY!
What works for one person, may not work for the other, find your own path!
Consumers are attracted to YOU, not your products.
Afraid of failure/shame
Direct sales has long had a stigma, therefore do not be surprised if you get an “eye roll” from a friend or relative when you tell them you are considering direct sales. Why do we give more weight to the negative opinions of others?
The key thing is to let that MOTIVATE you! PROVE them WRONG!
There is no failure, only paths that lead to other paths!
